Delete your Yoreflix account
You can delete your Yoreflix account, and the data that goes with it, at any time: yourself, or by asking us. This page explains both, and says what we delete and what we keep.
Delete it yourself
Use a web browser on a phone, tablet or computer.
- Step 1. Go to app.yoreflix.com and sign in.
- Step 2. Open the menu (the ☰ button at the top right of the screen) and choose Account.
- Step 3. At the bottom of the Account page, under Delete account, press Delete account, then Yes, delete my account.
If you sign in and see only Subscribe and Sign out, or you cannot sign in to app.yoreflix.com at all (for example with an account you have not used for a long time), you cannot reach the Account page. Ask us instead (see below).
If you are part-way through a period you have already paid for, you keep your access until that period ends and the account is deleted then. Until that date the Account page shows when the deletion will happen, and Keep my account cancels it.
If you pay through Google Play, the App Store or the Amazon Appstore, cancel the subscription in that store as well. Deleting your Yoreflix account cannot stop a store charging you. A card subscription taken on our website, and a subscription through Roku, are cancelled for you as part of the deletion. If you are charged after deleting your account, email support@yoreflix.com.
Ask us to delete it
Email support@yoreflix.com from the email address on your account and ask us to delete it. We will confirm within one month. If you pay through Google Play, the App Store or the Amazon Appstore, cancel that subscription in the store as well.
What is deleted
- Your watch progress (where you stopped watching), your watchlist, your preferences and your caption settings.
- Your reviews and comments on Yoreflix.
- Your access, and every device signed in to your account on our website and in our current apps: you are signed out of all of them.
- The app-usage events recorded against your account.
- Any password-reset or TV-pairing code. A sign-in code we have emailed you stops working.
What we keep, and why
- Viewing records, de-identified. We replace your account details on the record of what was watched and when with a coded reference. We keep these records because the royalties we pay to film-makers are calculated from them. While we keep the record of your closed account (below), we are able to link the two.
- Payment records (each subscription and store purchase, and the payment notifications the stores send us) for at least 6 years, to meet UK accounting and tax obligations.
- A record of the closed account, including its email address and your name (but not your password), kept alongside the payment records, so that a later question from a bank, a store or an accountant can be answered.
- Stripe, our card payment processor, keeps its own customer record as a payment record.
- If you were one of our creators, your creator code record and the commission paid on it.
- An internal audit log of the actions our staff have taken on accounts.
- Support correspondence for 5 years.
- A device identifier stored in a browser or on a television stays on that device, and we keep our record of that device (its name and a description of the browser or app). It identifies the device, not you, and is shared by anyone who signs in on it.
- Our previous system. If your account began there, or you have signed in to one of our older TV apps, that system also holds a record of your account (your name, email address and password), what you watched, any reviews you wrote there, and payment and mailing-list records. Deleting your account stops it being used to sign in to those older apps, but does not erase it, and a television already signed in to one of them may keep working until it signs out. Email support@yoreflix.com and we will erase it for you.
Analytics
Website statistics (Google Analytics) are not linked to your account. App-usage events sent to our analytics store are deleted automatically within 60 days.
Deletion is final
Once your account has been deleted there is no way to restore it.
See our Privacy Policy for everything we hold and why.
